Happy National Dog Week
National Dog Week was created in 1928 when World War 1 veteran and canine advocate, Captain William Judy started the week long celebration to recognize the service and the undeniable loyalty of man's best friend.
Judy recognized the value of dogs on the battlefield and as service and emotional support animals for veterans returning home from war and critisized the US Army for lagging behind other nations in the use of properly trained Military Dogs.
“The dog is the only true love money can buy.” -Captain William Judy
How can you rightfully celebrate your favorite BFF?
- Take your pup out for a celebratory puppucino.
- Spoil your dog with the one thing they want most-- your attention! Including their favorite activities such as snuggling, playing, exploring or even napping.
- Let them pick a new toy at your local dog store.
- Let your dog take you on a walk, so to say. Their nose can lead the way to all of their favorite sniffing (or peeing!) spots.
- Challenge your dog with a puzzle.
- Donate to a local pet rescue in honor of your dog.
- Treat your pup to a spa day!
- Order a custom pet portrait from Nicole Drake!
September's Pet of the Month!
Meet Scooter:Scooter was chosen as pet of the month for a number of reasons. Scooter is quite the character. He loves all treats and demands a treat before he will go out to potty. As soon as we come back in, you guessed it, treats again! Scooter quickly became best friends with his Hooman pet sitter although he did not want her to know of his acceptance until he had received his minimum treat quota.
Need a hand with your pet? Hooman on Demand offers dog walking, pet sitting and cat sitting in Raleigh. Sign up free and book a meet & greet.
