Dog Walker in Northwest Raleigh: Leesville, Stonehenge and Wildwood Green

A fenced backyard is a gift for a dog, but it isn't the same thing as a walk. Many dogs here have both, and a long commute can still leave them waiting most of the day.
Hooman on Demand schedules visits for homes in Leesville, Stonehenge, Wildwood Green, Harrington Grove, Westlake and Bartons Creek, from the Creedmoor Road and Leesville Road side of Raleigh. Below are the local specifics. For the larger picture of north Raleigh, see our North Raleigh dog walking page.
A walk and a yard visit are different jobs
If you have a fenced yard, it helps to know which visit you need.
- Yard visit. The 15-minute drop-in covers a potty break and fenced-yard play. It suits dogs who burn energy by running the fence line.
- Walk. A 20-, 30- or 60-minute walk takes your dog out on leash. It brings new smells, steady pace and some work for the legs. That's what a dog who paces by the door is asking for.
Plenty of owners mix the two across a week. You can change it any time.
Lakes, trails and greenways to try on your own time
The City of Raleigh publishes details on several places in 27613. Use them for outings with your dog. A permit is required for commercial activity in City parks, which is why none of these is a walker route. Your dog's actual route comes out of the meet & greet. Keep greenway leashes to 6 feet or less, and remember that City parks welcome leashed dogs while owners remove their own pet waste.
Lake Lynn Park. The City lists 52 acres at 7921 Ray Road, including a community center and fishing from its docks and pedestrian bridge. The park page describes a 2.8-mile greenway trail around Lake Lynn. The City's trail list gives the Lake Lynn Loop a different length, so check the trail map for the distance before you plan the day.
Hare Snipe Creek Greenway. A paved 2.3-mile trail that follows Hare Snipe Creek from Wooten Meadow Park to Lake Lynn Park. The City notes scenic views across the lake and a link to the Lake Lynn Loop. It lists parking at 3210 Lynn Road and 7609 Glenharden Drive.
Leesville Community Park. At 5105 Country Trail, 57.6 acres with playgrounds and a 10-foot-wide paved trail about 1,400 feet long. The park also holds a heritage garden with the remains of a family farm, including a stone chimney and a family cemetery.
Baileywick Park. At 9501 Baileywick Road, and worth knowing about. The City lists it under ZIP 27615, so it sits just past the 27613 line. It has a paved walking trail, a 0.6-mile greenway link and a dog park with separate small- and big-dog areas. The City's dog park rules ask for dogs to be leashed on the way in and out, vaccinated and over four months old. Read the full dog park rules before you go. Our Raleigh dog parks page lists the rest.
Getting through the door
However your home is set up, there are a few common ways in:
- A garage keypad code.
- A lockbox on the door or gate.
- A front-door keypad or smart lock.
We follow your alarm steps and keep your vet on file. Tell us at the meet & greet if there's a side gate to latch or a kennel to leave open or closed. Leave leashes and bags where we can find them.
Short visits, long walks
A 15- or 20-minute visit fits puppies who need frequent breaks and seniors who tire quickly. A 30-minute walk is a good everyday length. For a big dog with a lot of energy, 60 minutes gives time for a long loop that tires them out.
Each visit is GPS-tracked and ends with photos and a report card, and only one household is walked at a time, on leash.

Leesville dog walking: your questions
Do you cover 27613?
Yes, ZIP 27613 is on our service areas page. Enter your address on the sign-up form and we'll confirm it.
My dog has a big yard. Do we need a walk anyway?
Often, yes. Running around the yard doesn't give a dog the same pace or the same new smells as a walk on leash. We can start with a 15-minute drop-in and add walks if your dog still seems restless.
Can you handle a garage code?
Yes. Bring the code and any steps to the meet & greet, and we'll keep them private.
What's good for a puppy?
Frequent short visits. A 15- or 20-minute stop breaks up the day without over-tiring a growing dog.
Do you cover Six Forks Road too?
Closer to the Six Forks corridor? Try our Six Forks and North Raleigh page.
