What affects the cost of a dog walker in Raleigh?
- Walk length. Longer walks cost more but are better value per minute for active dogs.
- Number of pets. Most local services add a per-pet fee; ours is $4.
- Frequency. A weekday walk adds up — five 30-minute walks a week with us is $155.
- Time and notice. Some services charge more for evenings, weekends, holidays or same-day requests. Always ask.
- What's included. GPS tracking, photos, report cards and background-checked walkers aren't standard everywhere.
Independent app walker vs. a local dog walking company
Marketplace apps can be convenient, but you're often choosing from a rotating list of independent contractors. With a local company, the business screens, interviews and background-checks every walker, sets consistent safety rules (like on-leash only and no mixing households), and is accountable if something goes wrong. Ask any service how they screen walkers and what happens in an emergency.
How to save on dog walking
- Choose the shortest visit that truly meets your dog's needs — a senior may be happiest with a 15-minute drop-in.
- Book recurring visits so you never pay for last-minute changes or late cancellations.
- Give 24 hours' notice when plans change to avoid the $10 fee.
