Brier Creek dog parks and trails

Here are the nearby spots with published dog rules, so you know what to expect. Ask about routes at your meet & greet.

Brier Creek Park. The City of Raleigh lists this 10-acre park at 10810 Globe Rd. It sits on the Brier Creek Elementary campus as a partnership between the City and Wake County Schools, with fields, two playgrounds, a picnic shelter and a community center. The City's page doesn't mention dogs. The City's park rules say leashed dogs are welcome and waste must be removed. Because the park shares a school campus, follow any posted signs.

William B. Umstead State Park. The Crabtree Creek entrance is at 8801 Glenwood Ave, also in 27617. NC State Parks requires pets to be on a leash of 6 feet or less and under constant control. Pets stay on the trail, owners pick up waste, and pets aren't allowed in any building. Owners can be fined for not leashing. Umstead is a great weekend outing with you. See our guide to Umstead with dogs.

Crabtree Creek Greenway. The City lists this 18-mile paved greenway as starting at Umstead and following Crabtree Creek southeast. Greenway rules include a leash of 6 feet or less, waste picked up, and dawn to dusk hours.

Lake Crabtree County Park. In Morrisville at 1400 Aviation Parkway, Wake County lists it as open 8 AM to sunset daily, with a 6-foot leash rule. It closes on Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year's Day. Check Wake County's page for current closures.

There is no Brier Creek dog park on the City's dog park list. For the ones that are listed, see Raleigh's dog parks.

The City also lists a planned Lumley–Westgate project that would link Brier Creek and Umstead. It's a plan, not a trail yet, so check the City's project page for status.

Apartment and community visits vs. house visits

Apartments and communities. If you live in a managed community, we can use a lockbox, a keyless entry code, or your leasing office for access. We follow your alarm instructions, and your vet's details stay on file. Tell us about any gate or building steps at your meet & greet.

Houses. For a house, we can use a lockbox or a keyless code. A quick drop-in is also an easy way to give your dog a break in a fenced yard.

Either way, every visit is GPS-tracked and every walk is on leash.
